Nearly 5,000 Ukrainians have found refuge in France because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and this number continues to increase day after day.
The European Union has mobilized, and is still mobilizing to welcome Ukrainian refugees, more than 10,000 places have already been offered.
That’s why, in view of the tragic situation they are living, Marypop has decided to help them at its own level.
We all know how difficult it is to change country, to leave one’s hometown, even when it’s a choice, and that’s why it’s essential to help each other so that everyone can find their bearings.
In this article you will find all the necessary information for each babysitter to help them when they arrive in their new country.
1. What I can do as a volunteer to help Ukrainian refugees
If you, as a babysitter, want to volunteer to help Ukrainian refugees, here is what you can do:
- You can help them with their administrative procedures, i.e. contact them and explain to them what they can do to obtain their residence permits or identity papers;
- You can also help them by giving them practical information about their city, such as the address of collection points or associations
- You can also offer them to keep their children for a few hours to give them time to do the administrative procedures, which sometimes take several hours;
- You can also introduce them to French, Spanish or English, if you know one of these languages well. If not, they will also be happy to communicate with people who do not necessarily speak their language.
2. Some information about the administrative procedures
In the article Welcome of Ukrainian citizens in France, it is said:
“Ukrainian citizens holding a biometric passport do not need a short-stay visa to travel to the Schengen area and therefore to France.
Those who wish to travel to France and do not have a biometric passport (or do not have a travel document) are invited to go to one of the consular offices in the states bordering Ukraine (Poland, Romania, Hungary, etc.) so that their situation can be studied (obtaining a visa or a pass).
Also, for all procedures concerning VISA, do not hesitate to inform yourself on the official website of visas for France.
